Requirements
Active Competitor
NOFCA can be somewhat complicated to understand, so it's required that you are an active competitor in order to become a judge.
Judging Experience
We ask that those who have experience hosting sport trials in the past be the ones to judge NOFCA, and also those folks to have experience using google sheets.
Streaming
It is a good idea before asking to host a NOFCA that you watch a judging stream. This allows you to ask questions and clears up misconceptions before you go through all the work of hosting.
Posting Results
All results made by an apprentice or guest judge must be reviewed by Fervious prior to be being made public.
Deciding what stake(s) to host
Do you want to hold a "fun" trial that doesn't award placements points (less trouble and math)?
Then pick non-regular stakes such as puppy and/or veteran. Puppy stakes no longer award championship points.
Do you want to hold a one-breed only trial, like a show specialty or in conjunction with one?
Created breeds: you must be an admin/breed mod or be given permission by one to host a breed specialty breed stake.
Real breeds: you must verify there is no currently scheduled breed stake specialty for that calender year and there is enough registered hounds of that breed to host one.
Do you want to host only one stake?
We recommend hosting mixed stake when you do not want to judge two stakes. Alternatively, you may also choose to host a night stake. Night stakes are difficult to judge and we only recommend them to seasoned judges.
Classes
You are not required to offer any classes at all; they are entirely optional and the winners of classes are selected from the existing runs in the trial. Each class must have at least two participating dogs or kennels.
